Tutorial Tuesday – Staging

I’m trying to learn how to stage – bookcases, consoles, coffee tables – fundamentally every flat surface that’s suitable.  I find creating pleasant vignettes difficult – on more than one level, I’m afraid!

So, I’ve been reaching out to the interwebs to see who’s got tips!  And I found lots.  Today, I’m just going to focus on decorating bookcases.  (They seem to be on my mind for some reason!)

The tutorial at House Beautiful really breaks down the process into simple steps.

Sara Gunn wrote a terrific article on decorating bookshelves for The Yummy Mummy Club!

Better Homes and Gardens has a series of tips to make your bookcase absolutely stunning!

All of these presupose that you have more cases than books.  That’s not the case in our home.  The method I’m mostly going to use is the “stuff as many books into the shelves as you can and try to find pretty things to put on the top”!

I’ll let you know how that works out!

I’d really love to see your comments on the projects I do and the ideas I have.  I learn more from critiques than praise, but, honestly, I adore praise (and who doesn’t?).

Thanks for stopping by.
